There is a difference between providing source code, as in GPL, and providing
a mechanism to update firmware. Nowhere in the GPL does it require you to
provide a mechanism to update the running code in a unit.
At the risk of incuring the wrath of this group, this issue has swayed many
a developer (Apple being the probably the biggest) from Linux to BSD.
