Hmmm..., checking on Bugzilla I see several IMAP and "mark as read"
related bugs which are open. Try previewing the messages twice as a
crude workaround. See:

If this works for you I suggest adding your comments to the above bug,
otherwise open a new bug report.
I would also try upgrading to 0.7...
