Then buy another hard drive and add it to the computer. If you are
currently employed, this may be even a cheaper use of your time than
fiddling with strange filesystems, repartitioning your hard disk, etc.
Another option, if the changes are confined to few files, is to use
CD-R/W or DVD for saving the files, which truly don't change.
