Just as a counter to the above claim - I do beleive MySQL is a viable solution
for website and more so for system administration, and under most conditions
I found it to be better (as in - easier to setup, easier to program and
faster) then the competition. admitted, I have more experience with MySQL
then with postgres.

Myself, I don't think you'd need anything more then the online Manual MySQL AB
have sportingly put on the website with the ability to post comments. its not
long (and you can skip a lot of chapters and everytime they go into detailed
descriptions of the various functions) and does not assume you are a DBA or
want to be one.
