I agree - nut is way superior. I just didn't do my homework, partly
because I wanted to buy it quickly. As I said, I only learned about
nut after I bought it. BTW, the "user" is me. I wouldn't do such a
thing for tau - here we do have our share of linux hardware compatibility
problems, but we do try more.

It was purchased from getit.co.il and their seller was arrowtech.co.il.
In Advice's website it says that in this model (and this one only, it's
the cheapest) it's optional. I contacted Advice and they said it's
indeed supplied only with 600VA and up. The price difference in getit,
BTW, is 70NIS, and the cable cost me 40NIS. So for 30 NIS I would get
15% more VAs (I am not sure it's 15% more time - does anyone know? I
guess they do not have a different battery for each model, only the
power supply is different).
