Right, sorry. I read the 'how to pronounce linux' page(s) out there a long tie
ago and must have mixed up things...

So where does the 'linix' style come from? Rhyme with minix? Why do some
people talk like that?

OK, another thing I misunderstood then. Probably because I got there late,
being caught in the beer truck thingy on ayalon :-(

You're saying the version we got on CD is the same as the 1.1beta1 available
on www.openoffice.org? Or possibly that all the bidi support is already in
the www.openoffice.org version and the only thing that's unique in the CDs we
got today is the Hebrew l10n, not the i18n?

From the thread here a few days ago I got an impression that wasn't so... If
it is, why all the stuff about announcing/releasing the Hebrew version today
and everyone grabbing a disc? Was all they announced actually the
Hebrew-translated menus & docs? What an anticlimax...

I know. Back when we didn't have a from-source oo.o ebuild in gentoo, I was
among those who tried, and failed, to create one. I quit at about the point
where its generated build script failed halfway through because my version of
tcsh did something the wrong way from its pov. A humbling experience.

A few months later when the ebuild for OO.o 1.0.1 (written by someone else)
was already working, I tried emerging it one morning. Came back from school
to find it still compiling. Evening, still compiling, went to sleep. Woke up
the next morning, it had aborted compiling after using up all of my 2.5GB of
free disk space in /var/tmp. After that I just gave up.

(At this point someone should come in saying 'but it's so simple, I do it
every week without any problems' - this list seems to have at least one such
person for about every topic. It's really great to have so many good people
on this list - and properly humbling too)
