Hi to all , thanks for your replay's
i will try to express my self in a very clear way
not for publicity yet !!!
as we have old hardware available at our library and an upgrade to this
hardware will be at least 1000$ per PC , we decided to upgrade the technology
sure we are well familiar with open code community , and want to make a
small change
at blich high-school.
we are working together with kannery project to implement the terminal
server infra structure , as far as we know kannery is knoppix + Debian
based.
the client side are actually old PCs (pII400,64mb)
we think that having a terminal server system will not only be cheaper to
create but will
also give us more administration flexibility , security , management and
control over the network.
for IE: if we need to inst a new Package using APT for instance we have to
do it
only once on the server side and it will auto deploy it all over to client
side.
no one can change the desktop configuration inst new apps or try and dell
other
or even damage the system just for the fun of it !
we will use kde 3.2.1 and will upgrade when kannery will be ready with the
3.3.x
we have a selection of apps that are necessary for a usable station , also
we think that
as kde is the GUI env we prefer to use kde add ons and apps
the only non kde apps will be open-office and firefox i am sure no
explanation is needed
here.
also i know Konqi is faster and has better performance and will be there
as default !
we will use Amarok, Juk, Kate, Koffice will also be inst, Kopete, Kontact,
etc....
so other dist.. as red-had etc... are out of the Q
also i am writing those lines from my SuSe 9.1 box :)
so i think we will just browse to the kde.org site copy&paste relevant docs
and start the translation (Pink-Floyd the final-cut "what have we done").
as we will make progress with the project i will be posting to this community
for updates etc... on the project , and when will get there will also have
the translations
send to the community for others to benefit as well.
